The good boys and girls
A site named after the most famous dog on the internet needs a dog shelf, and DogeFlix has a big one. Hachi: A Dog's Tale leads it: Richard Gere as the professor and an Akita, a close cousin of the Shiba Inu, who waits for him at the station every day. Bring tissues. Much feelings.
True stories
Togo and Balto tell the two sides of the 1925 serum run to Nome, the sled dogs who crossed Alaska to deliver medicine. Eight Below follows a sled team left in Antarctica, Red Dog the Australian kelpie who united a mining town, and Dog Channing Tatum and an army Malinois on a road trip down the Pacific coast.
Family favourites
Marley & Me, Beethoven, Turner & Hooch, 101 Dalmatians and Lady and the Tramp are the classics; Bolt, PAW Patrol: The Movie and Clifford the Big Red Dog are for the little ones. A Dog's Purpose, A Dog's Journey and The Art of Racing in the Rain tell their stories from the dog's point of view.
The artful one
Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs is a stop-motion adventure set on an island of exiled dogs in a future Japan, and the most beautiful film on the shelf. The whole collection is on Dog Movies.
